Route Support
The Devil Ride is a fully supported event in the European cyclosportive or Gran Fondo tradition.
This means that the route will be clearly and comprehensively marked, with direction arrows at each turning and road junction. We will make sure that you are in no doubt as to where you should be heading, so if there is a long time between turnings, we’ll put up some straight-on signs to give you a little reassurance.
To cover for the unlikely event that you get confused at any point or that signs have been dislodged, we will give each rider a detailed route card as a fall-back.
There will be three feeding stations out on the route, which will be well-stocked with bottled water and a variety of food, such as fruit, cakes, and sandwiches, as well as basic 1st aid kits and spares/tools.
We will be operating broom wagons to pick up or assist anyone that runs into real difficulties during their ride, together with mobile 1st aid units.
There will be a mobile bike shop from Epic Cycles at the event centre, where a mechanic will be on hand to help you out if you have any concerns about your bike before you set out. They will also have spares and accessories, clothing and sports nutrition for sale. The bike shop in Rhayader will also be open for the day.
The event will be using motorcycle outriders from the National Escort Group who are an accredited group of motorcyclists trained to assist with the safety of events held on the public highway.
Photographer
An official photographer will be out on the course photographing every rider. To help identify riders, we will be sending a laminated bike number (to be fixed to handlebars) in the rider packs posted to entrants during July.
